Hi, folks! It’s such a thrill to be with you today celebrating the 12 Days of Cozies! I can’t thank Angela enough for all the time and effort she put into making this wonderful event happen.
And I do think using the term “wonderful” is spot on right now. According to the dictionary, the definition of wonderful is “inspiring delight, pleasure, or admiration.” And that’s exactly what this event, and so many occasions this time of year, give us. It’s a time of joy. A time in which we look forward with great anticipation to all the fantastic things the holidays and the new year will bring.
That sentiment is especially true for me this year because book 4 in The Allie Cobb Mysteries, A Deadly Discovery, makes its debut January 7, 2021. I am absolutely delighted to share another adventure featuring Allie Cobb and the rest of the Rushing Creek Gang with you all. And in case you haven’t seen it, here’s the cover.
I hope you like it as much as I do. I always get a charge seeing Allie’s beloved tortoiseshell kitty, Ursula, on the cover.
A new book coming out the first week of January isn’t the only reason I’m looking forward to the new year with a smile. I can’t wait to say goodbye and good riddance to 2020. It’s been a tough year on all of us and I can’t wait to flip the calendar to put it in the rear-view mirror.
I’m looking forward to seeing how my older kiddo progresses in their new job. They were out of work for ten months because of the pandemic and finally landed a new gig working in a memory care unit at a senior living community. It does my heart good to see them working in a place where they can help people every day. The work they’re doing is truly inspiring.
I’m also looking anticipating a COVID vaccine being rolled out so we can all see life return to normal. It’s getting closer, friends! Remember going to the movies, or a concert, or a ball game? Man, I cannot wait to do that again. And getting together with family and friends again. Being able to hug each other and share a meal with your biggest worry being whether you left room for dessert!
Yes, my friends, we all have a lot to look forward to in the coming months and beyond, both small and big. While I’m looking forward to snuggling with my kitty Maria on cold winter nights, I’m also hoping we can attend mystery conventions like Malice Domestic and Bouchercon in person once again. I, for one, have been dying to see Catriona McPherson so I can tell her in person how much I absolutely adore her Lexy Campbell books!
So, how about you? What are you looking forward to in the coming weeks, months, and even year or two? Let me know and we can share that joy of anticipation. Until next time, wishing you all a holiday season full of smiles and a new year that can’t be topped!
More about A Deadly Discovery
While driving home from work late one night, Allie’s Cobb’s brother Luke almost hits a gun safe that had been left in the middle of the road. When nobody claims the safe, the police open it, hoping to find a clue about the owner. Instead of a collection of guns, they find a dead body.
When the body is identified as the president of the local rifle and pistol club, fingers are immediately pointed at a vocal animal rights advocate, who also happens to be Allie’s veterinarian and friend. Unable to believe the gentle woman who cares for her beloved cat Ursi could be a murderer, Allie begins a search for the truth. What she uncovers proves it’s not always the best thing to let sleeping dogs lie.
