by Katherine Brown
Hello, cozy mystery fans! My name is Katherine Brown and I’m so excited to be a part of the fabulous #12daysofcozies event this year. I have adored reading cozy mysteries for the better part of a decade and began writing them in 2018.
Today, I wanted to share with you one of my favorite Christmas traditions. Well, it’s kind of two traditions rolled into one.
Matching Christmas pajamas and getting up at the ridiculous hour of three or four a.m. to go look under the tree.
I am a crafter at heart as well, so each year I’ve tried to make matching Christmas pajamas for myself, my husband, and our two daughters. (Let’s not talk about the year of the pants without enough elastic though.) This year, I’m working on Christmas shirts with my cricket. The shirts are dark green with “Merry CHRISTmas” and the nativity scene on them. We will be wearing fuzzy red buffalo plaid pajama pants with them (store bought, because as alluded to, I discovered sewing pants was not my thing). I wrap the pajamas and we open them on Christmas eve together.
Then on Christmas morning, we will all get up between three and four to go hang out in the living room and see the gifts under the tree. This part of the tradition, the insane early waking, began when I was a child and my sister and I would wake each other up and race downstairs even earlier in the morning! We weren’t allowed to wake my parents until six a.m. but they were good sports about pretending they couldn’t hear us squealing and screaming and watching our new movies.
I’d love to hear about some of your favorite Christmas traditions.
